THE EXPECTATIONS
God did not change our body part or just touch a part of us at our rebirth. What he did was a reformation; he did not just republish us, He made us anew. A new creation is a total transformation that occurs when we belong to Christ. There's an identity we receive in Him when we are born again.
What is expected of us as a new creation? 2 Corinthians 5:17-18
It is expected of us to make a positive difference in this world. Not just by proclamation of the words of our mouths, but by our lifestyle. We are called Christians because we are expected to live like Christ.
What then, does a regenerated life expected to look like?
• A light. Matthew 5:14-16
The world is earnestly waiting for the manifestation of light in their darkness. So we are expected to shine as the light that we are. The light is meant to let go of darkness.
• Ambassador of Christ 2 Corinthians 5:20, Daniel 2:44
We are meant to represent Christ everywhere.
• Fragrance 2 Corinthians 2:14-15
We are meant to be a fragrance that will diffuse around so that lives that are perishing will be saved.
• Salt of the world. Matthew 5:13
We are meant to influence the world just as the way salt influences our meals. Food without salt is tasteless. A tasteless life should become tasteful at our appearance. Salt brings healing. 2 Kings
Reflection:
Are we still an effective salt, or we have lost our flavour?
Are we living in the reality of these expectations?
Conclusion:
Meeting these four expectations, bring about excellence, just as it was with Jesus, whose life we should emulate. We are expected to bring joy, to the world, through the life we live.
We often live in the fear of the unknown, death, sickness as the regenerated ones. But Christ has shown us to be fearless. For he has not given us the spirit of fear but of boldness, power and sound mind.
Confession:
I have the mind of Christ, I understand who I am in Christ.
My reality is established in wisdom and knowledge
There is a regeneration upon my spirit man
I am the son of God.
